The granulation (Grit) on the file is crucial for the refinement of the sharpening result. The more highly the Gritzahl, the more finely the file. Thin, sensitive nails get along best with fine-grained glass nail files.
Normal, sturdy nails are pleased about the use of sand files.
Fragile nails should fall back to mineral files, since they already seal the nail edge when filing.
